Storm Tree Stories

The Storm Tree Stories are 4 visual story books I’ve written,  illustrated and published by my own ‘Pearbox Press’ in 2006.

The books are a nostalgic celebration of rural holidays and hobbies but take the reader beyond this to the deep enchantment at the heart of rural Britain.  The Stories are set in ‘Felldun’, a coastal holiday area based on my memories of childhood holidays.

In each of the stories a seemingly ordinairy hobby leads the heroes of the stories to extraordinairy experiences:

The Birdwatchers fall in love and glide away on the back of a swan.

The Railway Enthusiast travels back to a time ‘when many gods had still not awoken’

The Gardener transforms a derelict churchyard into a place of spiritual renewal.

The Shell Collector climbs into a shell and climbs to a ’sky full of places to go’.

The books are for anyone, of any age,  who daydreams.

They are available in galleries and shops such as The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The De La Warr Pavilion, The Craft Centre at Leeds City Art Gallery, Castor and Pollux in Brighton, Cambridge Contemporary Art and ‘Made in Hastings’.

Books can also be purchased directly from me. Please write to me at 88 Mount Road, Hastings, U.K. TN35 5LA. Books cost £5 each + 50p postage per book. Please make cheques payable to Ed Boxall. I’ll get books to you within 2 weeks.

I did meet you a while ago at a ST Mary’s Terrace open session when you were exhibiting your gorgeous drawings/books etc. I have had great difficulty getting The Gardener book which i particularly love. Is it out of print? I was also intrigued by the illustrations you drew for a poem (cannot remember who it was with) but i thought it was very good. Have you drawn for any other poets/poems?
I would love to buy The Gardener if it is available and will send you the money directly if you have it in stock.
    Many thanks, jenny

PS Are you related to Mike Boxhall (who lives near Chichester and is a Craniosacral Therapist and pschyoanalyst) by any chance?!
